About Me

I am a high school chemistry and physics teacher and am near retirement. Interests other than photography are motorcycle touring and trail riding, hiking, camping, banjo, harmonica, guitar. I have owned a camera of one kind or another since I was 8 years old. My first camera was a Diana, my second camera was an Argus C-3. My dad taught me to use a darkroom and I did this until I was 18. I reached a plateau as fas as knowledge of photography and stayed there for years. I always had fun taking pictures but I never really tried to get better at it. When digital came along, I bought a Canon Rebel and pretty much left it on auto all the time. In the last couple of years I have become interested in getting better, and I am getting better. I know and can use about 50% of the functions on my 5D and 7D. The problem is that I am learning things "here and there" and "piecemeal". The reason I am enrolling in this course is that I want a systematic and sequential learning experience. I want to learn everything and not have any "holes" as I progress.
